I always hate to see shows like this but change in life is a necessity and that’s no exception for One Two Ten. With a couple of members moving away, the band has concluded a great run in the Oklahoma City metro area and last night’s show was spectacular.
The night started out with locals Disco Stranger setting the mood for the night with a beautifully written ethereal pop set list that built dramatically upwards as the list continued. Covering Tears For Fears’ Everybody Wants to Rule the World, the mood was set for a truly original set list that included a spectacular instrumental called Lettuce Jam that reminded me of a Santana-esque jam, just a little poppier!
Next came Smokey Motel who began their set in much the same way as Disco Stranger. However, the energy cranked up quite quickly to a highly energetic set reminiscent of a band playing to 100K fans at a larger festival.
And before I forget, Beer City Music Hall, was just spectacular! The facility has only been open for about a month but is perfectly built for local and international touring acts with a permanent photo pit and guarded backstage areas for extra security. I have several shows scheduled this summer at Beer City and I can’t wait to get back in that pit.
The headliner, One Two Ten, played their final show after the two openers. With a 19 song set list, it was a road trip through the history of the band and like usual, they did not disappoint. I can honestly say I’ll miss this band and their stage presence. All I can say is good luck in the future and I hope each member finds even more success in their careers.
